Pennsylvania holds Primary Elections every spring and a General Election every fall.
In Pennsylvania, we have closed primaries, which means Republican voters can vote only for Republican candidates and Democratic voters can vote only for Democratic candidates. The candidates who receive the highest number of votes go on to run in the General Election.
ALL registered voters can vote in the General Election.
All registered voters can vote in the Primary Election on ballot questions and constitutional amendment questions, and in Special Elections.

If you are in possession of your mail-in ballot but have decided you want to vote in person, go to your precinct’s voting location and bring your entire mail-in ballot – envelopes and all – with you.
You can then cast a regular vote at the polls. If you requested a mail in ballot but cannot find it, you can vote using a provisional ballot at your voting precinct.
